Minecraft Live will be taking place on October 15th at 12 p.m. ET. It's the annual online event revolving around the best-selling game in the world, Minecraft. One of the yearly traditions of the event at this point is the "Mob Vote". For the uninitiated, mobs are what the in-game animals and villagers are collectively referred to as.
Each year, Mojang, the developers of Minecraft under Microsoft, presents three potential mobs that players around the world can choose to be implemented into the game proper. The other two will be cast out into eternity, never to be seen again.
For instance, the "Phantom" was the first mob implemented into the game by virtue of the Mob Vote — though players might regret that choice since the phantoms turned out the be quite a nuisance. The "Glow Squid" was the next Mob Vote winner and the latest one was the "Allay".
Now, with Minecraft Live right around the corner, Mojang has revealed the first of the three mobs that will be up for grabs during this year's Mob Vote, which will commence on October 14th and conclude the next day.
It's called "The Sniffer," and most closely resembles a turtle. It's said to be ancient. Players can hatch this mob from eggs found in underwater temples and, once hatched, sniffers will seemingly skulk around and dig up rare new seeds. They're likely based on truffle dogs.
