The Messenger is an indie 2D platformer developed by Sabotage Studios and published by DevolverDigital coming for the Nintendo Switch and Steam. The game was first teased earlier in January of this year and we finally have an official release date as the game will become available on the
30th of August.
Taking cues from classic 8-Bit era titles,
The Messenger draws most of its inspiration from the classic
Ninja Gaiden series—originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 1980s. As an interesting fact, the
Ninja Gaiden series is considered, even to this day, to be one of the most difficult game series of all times.
The Messenger occassionally would also go into a 16-Bit mode, which even gives the main character a different look, while keeping the game's tight controls unaffected. The game really harkens back to those games of yesteryear that a lot of players grew up with in the 80s—making
The Messenger a must-play title.
