Last month, Quantic Dream announced that their latest hit Detroit: Become Human is their fastest-selling title to date. At the time, the French studio also promised fans that some "great news" will be revealed soon and it looks like that moment has come. Today, the studio shared two important news – establishing long-lasting collaboration with NetEase and moving away from developing PS exclusives.

Although Detroit is one of the best-selling PS4 exclusives, Quantic seemingly needs more resources to make their new games than Sony can effort. To assure the studio's future, Quantic has signed a deal with NetEase, one of the biggest Chinese gaming and tech companies, that has acquired a minority stake in Quantic Dream, allowing them to produce interactive storytelling games like Heavy Rain.

According to Director David Cage, he's "very excited to report that NetEase has taken a minority share in the capital of Quantic Dream," he said in an interview with VentureBeat. "This investment will allow us to invest in future technologies and games in order to prepare for the next generation of platforms, with the same ambition regarding creativity and innovation. Our goal is to develop our studio as a global, multi-franchise company, while remaining an independent studio. We want to keep developing original games in the genre we pioneered, but also expand our audience by being present on all platforms."

The last sentence is an important one, as it basically confirms that Detroit indeed was the last PlayStation exclusive in Quantic's 22-year-long history. Become Human was not the only PS exclusive the studio gave us, as David Cage's crew is also responsible for Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain.

At time of writing, NetEase is collaborating with some of the biggest game development studios working today, including not only Quantic, but also Blizzard (on Diablo: Immortal) and Bungie (Matter).
