Some time after
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was released, Activision and Beenox had done a great job giving players even more content than they initially revealed for the base game. Most of this content comes in the form of monthly Grand Prix events; completely free of charge, too.
While there are some microtransactions,
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled is already a complete game and every Grand Prix gave players the chance to grind for the new cosmetics and characters; sure, it some of the items took some time to get, but it was still possible with dedication.
Today, Beenox has announced that they will no longer be releasing any more Grand Prix events, and that this month's event will be the last one. While the news may be somewhat disappointing, Beenox has also said that this will be their biggest Grand Prix ever; considering all the great content they have delivered, that's quite the statement.
Beenox's statement, posted on the Activision blog, reads as follows:
Bandicoots, details about the new Grand Prix season will be coming next week, but in the meantime we wanted to give you a quick update.
Over the past eight months, we have been incredibly proud of our seasonal offerings and we feel our next Grand Prix will be one of the best yet. Beenox is known for going out with a bang, and with the next Grand Prix on the horizon we announce that it will be the last official Grand Prix for CTR Nitro-Fueled. It’s absolutely a bittersweet thing for us to announce that the next Grand Prix will be the last, but at the same time we want players to know that the race isn’t over.
Through the Grand Prix, we’ve delivered fresh, new content to Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Our community has raced through the multitude of new tracks and challenges with each season and have amassed an amazing collection of new characters and skins and shown their style in insane new ways by customizing all their karts.
We truly have loved creating all this content, and above all we’ve been thrilled by your support. We’re happy to say that although the Grand Prix seasons are rounding out, current and new players alike will still be able to enjoy all the game modes (including online matchmaking), as well as a new ongoing challenge system, new time trials to complete and even a new drop of characters, skins and karts that will hit the track shortly after the final Grand Prix Season (including a long-awaited item that we think fans will be very happy about).
With all of the content that Beenox has added to
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled over the last 8 months, the popular racing game now features a grand total of 40 track for players to race in, 51 characters to choose from, a staggering 321 character skins, 40 unique kart bodies, and over 760 million possible kart combinations.
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled was already giving players the full racing experience, and all of the extra content has only made the game even better than what it already was. Thanks, Beenox — you have done a wonderful job with this phenomenal game.
