Dakar 18, developed by indie game company
Bigmoon Entertainment, looks to make a splash in the racing genre as the developer teams up with
Deep Silver (of
Dead Island fame), with this new open world off-road racing title. Inspired by the famous race Dakar Rally held annually by the Amaury Sports Organization,
Dakari 18 wants to revolutionize the race genre with a massive open world environment, featuring both online and offline single-player, as well as multiplayer game modes.
Racing will feature 5 different types of vehicles: the standard
cars and
motorcycles, but also
trucks,
quads, and
UTVs. No official customization options at least in its current state, and will feature official companies, pilots, and sponsors tied to the official real life racing circuits. The game features a "Realistic Road Book Navigation System," where it pits players in a free roaming race to get to the finish by their own means, which might not be as simple as it sounds as the map features around 15,000km² (or over 5,700 square miles) of game world to explore and traverse.
Here is the official 'Launch Trailer' below:
Dakar 18 is available now for $49.99 USD on Windows PC, and for $59.99 USD for both Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles.
