When Square Enix first announced that they were bringing back Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles in the form of a remastered edition, fans of the long-running role-playing series were ecstatic, as it is a game that has not been re-released since its original launch on the Nintendo GameCube.

The more information about the game was revealed, the less excited fans became. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition was doing away with most of the multiplayer features that made the original memorable. In fact, the original game heavily relies on multiplayer, and Square Enix simply decided to remove couch co-op from the remaster.

As if that wasn't enough, and this is probably the cherry on top, Square Enix also decided that it was a good idea to region-lock Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition; meaning that players can only play online with players within the same region — which is one of the most poorly thought out ideas to execute in the year of Coronavirus.

At this point, asking yourself "What else could possibly go wrong with this game?" is a very legitimate question. Well, we've got news that will likely surprise you, as Square Enix has recently announced that they are pulling the game from online stores in Australia and New Zealand.

So, here's the deal. Square Enix decided to pull the game from online stores in Australia and New Zealand after players reported issues when trying to connect online for some multiplayer sessions. The developer still doesn't know what has caused this issue, but they reassure players that the problem is being investigated.

The good news is that them pulling the game from online stores, in the region comprising Australia and New Zealand, is not permanent, and they will be making Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition available again; as soon as they address the underlying issue, of course. Oh, Square Enix.

FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES Remastered Edition is an enchanting action RPG that follows a young group, known as the Crystal Caravans, as they embark on an epic journey to search for myrrh, a precious and rare liquid needed to cleanse and maintain a crystal protecting their world from the deadly gas, miasma.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
