FIFA 19, one of the two Football cornerstones for EA Sports, the other being their Madden series, was released this past week on September 28th, for the Windows PC, Playstion 4 (and Playstation 3), Xbox One (and Xbox 360), and Nintendo Switch platforms. A consistent top 10 seller year in and year out, no one expected anything less this year as thousands of fans worldwide booted up their games over the last 36 hours.
The fans are certainly speaking out this year though, as across most major platforms via popular ratings site MetaCritic, the game has featured ratings of 2.7/10 (for PS4 based on 178 ratings), 1.9/10 (for PC based on 37 ratings), and 3.0/10 (for Xbox One based on 37 ratings), with many reviews tied to the "unrealistic gameplay" tied to this years title compared to previous titles.
Most reviews cover the notion that there are frequent overhead scores that occur, something that rarely happens in actual soccer matches. As with many new games, there are also a few hilarious glitches, such as the one that has made the rounds on popular sites and featured on Reddit, where a user's goalkeeper decided to do a disappearing act.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the kinks work themselves out, and there's only up from here for FIFA 19's season as its only just begun.
