Ubisoft Annecy's
Steep is an interesting beast. Just like Ubisoft's own
Starlink: Battle for Atlas, it
may seem like a game out of touch.
Starlink was released in the post-
Disney: Infinity era when the toys-to-life subgenre is practically dead. While EA has completely abandoned the
SSX series that was extremely popular just 10 years ago, Ubisoft tried to revive the snowboarding genre in 2016.
When it comes to sales,
Steep is no
Rainbow Six: Sieg or even
For Honor (it's telling that Ubisoft canceled the game's Nintendo Switch version a few months ago), but Ubisoft still believes and invests in the project. For example, the
Steep: Road to the Olympics DLC allows you to train in a massive snowy open world in Japan including new disciplines to promote the recent Winter Olympics in South Korea.
The game will also get a brand new multiplayer mode (for free) on October 29th for PC players, but PS4 and Xbox One owners will have to wait longer, as the title will come to those systems shortly after the PC release. The expansion will let you play together with your friend to tackle the same dedicated objectives together.
To take part in the new mode, all you will need to do is join the multiplayer lobby in the Mountain View and Ubisoft's automatic matchmaking system will group you with up three other players. As soon as everyone is ready, a 5-second timer will appear and count down to the start of the match. When the countdown reaches zero, the competition begins.
Ride a massive open world of the Alps. Go solo or drop in side by side with other players. Record and share the most insane stunts ever captured. Dare your friends to try out your custom trails, then challenge the world to beat your best tricks and relive your most epic wipeouts. The mountain is yours.
Steep is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC NOW!
