Following a reveal at the 2021 Game Awards, the upcoming Wonder Woman game from Monolith (Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War) has been shrouded in utter secrecy.

Despite concept art leaking back in August we never actually received a new look at Monolith's Wonder Woman game at this year's Gamescom.

However, another leak (of sorts) concerning the game is making the rounds which brings news that's sure to elicit mixed emotions.

A new job listing on the Warner Bros. Discovery website hints that the Wonder Woman game will be going the Games as a Service (GaaS) route.

The job posting is specifically for Monolith and its Wonder Woman games and lists the position as Lead Software Engineer of Gameplay.

When the job posting lists the experience that Monolith is looking for in potential candidates, it reads "Experience helping maintain a live software product or game." There are probably a lot of former and current Crystal Dynamics employees looking for work after the Avengers GaaS video game flamed out.

This would actually track with comments recently made by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav during an earnings call where he stated that the company would be looking to move away from single-player focused titles and going all-in on the battle pass/games as a service model.

Zaslav specifically referred to Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Batman, and Mortal Kombat as potential $1 billion gaming franchises if they adapted the Gaas model.

Said Zaslav, "Our focus is on transforming our biggest franchises from largely console and PC based with three-four year release schedules to include more always on gameplay through live services, multiplatform and free-to-play extensions, with the goal to have more players spending more time on more platforms."

"Ultimately we want to drive engagement and monetisation of longer cycles and at higher levels," he continued. "We are currently under scale and see significant opportunity to generate greater post purchase revenue."

According to the 2021 teaser video, Wonder Woman is called back to Themyscira to fight alongside old foes and protect the island from a mysterious threat.

There's currently no release date for the game, but stay tuned, as gamers believe that once Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League launches, WB will turn its attention to marketing Monolith's Wonder Woman title.

The Suicide Squad game was previously delayed from its original  2022 release date to February 2024 after fans decried the debut trailer's uninspired gameplay footage and the reveal of a cosmetic-focused Battlepass system.

Recently, the game's marking campaign ramped back up with new footage that showed more varied gameplay between characters, however, the Battlepass elements still seem to be present.
