Ubisoft And Netflx Teaming Up For A New TV Series, But Which Property Will They Adapt?
Assassin's Creed is set to be released next month and various other Ubisoft properties are being developed for the big screen, but the company is now setting its sights on bringing something to Netflix as well.
Ubisoft has big plans for their properties on the big screen. Assassin's Creed will be released next month, and Ubisoft Motion Pictures are working on everything from Splinter Cell to The Division, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, and Watch Dogs. However, it appears as if they've now set their sights on television too as a recent Reuters article actually reveals that they're, "in talks with Netflix over a series."
What will it be? Sadly, there's no mention of that. Any one of the games above could work as both a movie and TV show, and Assassin's Creed (a franchise which has spawned countless spinoffs, sequels, and prequels) in particular would be a good fit for Netflix. However, given the online streaming service's ability to deliver high quality big budget dramas, they aren't restricted to any particular genre.
For now, we're going to have to wait and see when it comes to how these talks develop, but if Assassin's Creed fails to be both a commercial and critical hit, their plans may come to a quick halt.
