WARDOGS just printed a number of players that most Early Access shooters never see. BULKHEAD and Team17 said the 100-player tactical FPS sold two million copies in less than five days after it dropped on Steam on Thursday, September 10. SteamDB logged an all-time peak of 428,666 concurrent players on September 13. That is the weekend spike the studio is hanging the announcement on. Wishlist math came first. 100,000 in three days after the reveal. 500,000 in May. One million in August. The two million sales mark landed less than a month after that last wishlist post.

CEO Joe Brammer called two million in under five days ridiculous. He said the team knew the hype and still was not ready for this many people in the servers. Clips, last-second wins, and the chaos are the part he wants kept. He also said Early Access is not finished work. The team would read the reactions. Fix things and then build what is next.

The in-match ledger from 17:00 on September 10 to 05:00 on September 14 is the other flex:

  • $1.28 trillion cash earned
  • $561.9 billion spent
  • 122.2 million kills
  • 86.1 million headshots
  • 60.7 million revives
  • 27.7 million heals
  • 4.6 million tower caps
  • 51.1 million drop-offs
  • 212.8 million spots
  • 111.8 million tips
  • 188.9 billion XP

Support is the highest XP class so far at 21.42 percent. Assault is 20.54. Medic is 19.97. Recon 18.66. Driver 10.57. Pilot 8.70. The studio framed that as proof people are playing the objective kit, not only the run-and-gun slots.

The road in was already loud. Almost half a million people sat in the August closed beta. The last pre-launch test peaked at 245,118 concurrent on Steam. Those sessions were the performance pass. Reviews opened mixed on queues, then climbed. Outlets tracking Steam user scores put it around 85 percent positive after tens of thousands of reviews.

Analyst notes about this release put the Steam copies of WARDOGS ahead of Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 at the same early window on Valve's store, with revenue estimates in the tens of millions. Treat those as third-party tallies. BULKHEAD's own line is two million sold..

Consoles are arrivng at a later date for the game. PlayStation 5 and Xbox are dated 2028. Wishlists are open on both. Early Access on PC is the product for a year or two, with more maps, vehicles, weapons, deeper progression, and a seasonal meta on the public plan. Price is expected to rise when that window closes.

To keep the clip machine running, BULKHEAD opened a $100K Clip Contest. Best overall video takes $100,000 cash. The rest of the top 100 get $100,000 in WARDOGS in-game cash. wardogs100k.com is the entry page.

Two million in five days is a Steam story. It is also an Early Access story. The servers ate a Battalion-sized studio's biggest weekend. The work Brammer described is the part that decides whether 428,000 concurrent becomes a live-service habit or a launch screenshot.
