Animal Crossing: New Horizons is breaking all kinds of records in regards to sales. Just yesterday we reported that the recently released title had a better launch than any of the games in the Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda series since the NPD Group had starteds tracking sales in the mid 90s.
On top of this, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has also been revealed to be the fastest-selling single Nintendo game ever in the United Kingdom, and the biggest launch ever for a Nintendo Switch game in Japan; all of this within a few days after the game released.
A new study by Nielsen's SuperData has revealed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is estimated to have sold a staggering 5 million digital copies in March. If this was indeed the case, that would mean that Nintendo's recently released title has sold more than any other console game in history during their respective launch months.
It is also worth mentioning that Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released on the 20th of March, which makes these numbers in sales even more impressive when we consider that those estimated 5 million copies were sold within a week's time span; not to mention Nielsen's SuperData didn't include physical copies, only digital sales.
