The lead-up to the release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe was fraught with worry that the beloved playable character of Blue Toad had met the same fate as Waluigi did in relation to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - that being that they'd been unjustly left out.

Blue Toad was present in the original version of New Super Mario Bros. U, hence why it came as a surprise to many that he didn't appear in any trailers or promotional images whatsoever. Thankfully, Nintendo evidently came to their senses and have now confirmed that Blue Toad is in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe after all.

The official US Twitter account of Nintendo (@NintendoAmerica), recently shared that by hovering over Yellow Toad in the menu and simply pressing the "L" button, Blue Toad will be uncovered.

While we can now be grateful that Blue Toad is present; it's interesting to know that he must've been a late addition (perhaps on-account of the uproar) as he's still absent from cutscenes and can't be played as against Yellow Toad.

What do you think of the Blue Toad kerfuffle? Are you looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe?
