New Super Mario Bros U. Deluxe released only a couple of days ago, the 11th of January, and has already managed to take the number one spot in the UK this week, overthrowing EA's
Fifa 19 — which is now comfortably sitting in the second position right next to
Red Dead Redemption 2.
What's interesting is that
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe has also managed to outperform its original release, keeping in mind that this new game is a port of the Super Mario Bros. U that came out for the Wii U in 2012 as a launch title for Nintendo's failed console.
We still don't have any information regarding actual number of sales, but we do know that these amount to physical sales only. Next week will see the release of the highly anticipated
Resident Evil 2 remake, so
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe sitting in the number 1 spot will likely be short-lived. Still, it is great news for Nintendo and fans who never got to experience the original Wii U release of the game.
Take on two family-friendly, side-scrolling adventures with up to three friends* as you try to save the Mushroom Kingdom. Includes the New Super Mario Bros. U and harder, faster New Super Luigi U games—both of which include Nabbit and Toadette as playable characters!
New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is available for the Nintendo Switch today.
