While it's just a minor detail in the grand scheme of things, there has been a longstanding debate among players over how to pronounce NES — the three-letter acronym for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

And following the decades since the platform was released, two schools of thought have reigned supreme. One side argues that the acronym should be referred to as "Ness," and the other is confident that each letter should be pronounced individually. But, in all that time, Nintendo had yet to weigh in on the conversation. That is, until now.

Along with assembling a collection of the series' greatest hits, WarioWare Gold features a "Museum Mode" that explores Nintendo's history. In the Japanese copies, of the video game, there is a moment that highlight the Nintendo Entertainment System, and in a shocking turn of events, it reveals that NES is supposed to be pronounced "Ness."
