Nintendo's financial briefing has revealed that the company has already managed to sell 2.36 million Nintendo Switch units for the three months ended the 30th of June — which has brought the console's lifetime sales to an impressive 36.87 million units.
It is also worth mentioning that in Japan
Nintendo was already able to outsell the PlayStation 4's lifetime sales; quite an achievement, even when keeping in mind that Japanese consumers have always embraced the handheld console market.
This year saw an increase in sales when compared to the consolidated results for three months ended the 30th of June in 2018; when Nintendo revealed that the company had sold 1.88 million units of the popular handheld hybrid console.
Nintendo also reveals that
Super Mario Maker 2 has gotten off to a good start by selling an impressive 2.42 million units in a mere 2 days — since the level-making title released on the 28th of June and the first quarter of the period(April through June of this year) ended on the 30th of June.
Super Mario Maker 2 had already been crowned the best-selling title of June and had managed to beat out Activision's
Crash Team Racing-Nitro Fueled and NetherRealm Studios'
Mortal Kombat 11; an impressive feat, considering that
Super Mario Maker 2 — unlike the aforementioned titles — is a Nintendo Switch exclusive.
