Mega Man Keeps Being Teased As A Returning Fighter For The Nintendo Switch Version Of SUPER SMASH BROTHERS

Mega Man keeps being hinted as one of the returning characters for the Nintendo Switch version of Super Smash Brothers. This time, the tease comes from a post on the official Mega Man Twitter account.

Mega Man is Capcom's most popular character who is, in fact, considered by many to be the company's mascot, as well as one of the most popular franchises that stemmed from the NES era back in the 80s and 90s. Which is why so many people where extremely excited when Mega Man was first announced to be joining the battle in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Super Smash Bros. featuring Mega Man as a guest character was a dream come true for every fan of Capcom's Blue Bomber, and for good reason. The game originated on the Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1987 and that's where it became a smash(no pun intended) hit, becoming one of the most popular franchises in the world, that had no problem rivalling the likes of Mario and Sonic.

All of this popularity, plus the fact that Mega Man was already a guest character in Super Smash Bros.WiiU/3DS leads people to believe, and hope, that the character should be making an appearance in the next iteration of the game, which was already announced during a Nintendo Direct last March.

Nintendo have been very secretive about the new Smash Bros. game to the point we don't even have an official title for it, and don't know who will be joining the fight other than the obvious choices like Mario and Link, plus the characters from Splatoon that were in the official teaser for the game. But the same secrecy doesn't seem to apply to Capcom, or at least their official Mega Man Twitter account, who lately have been teasing Mega Man in Super Smash Bros.

The first tease was posted on the official Mega Man Twitter account exactly a week ago. In the post we could see the Mega Man amiibo, that was exclusive for the Super Smash Bros. game, standing next to an inscription that read "1987" which is the year the first Mega Man game was released. While this isn't a tease per se, Capcom have several other Mega Man figures they could've used instead of the Super Smash Bros. amiibo. Again, it could just be a coincidence and they decided to use that figure because it was just lying around.

Things are getting even more interesting when today they posted another tweet using the same amiibo, this time standing next to a Nintendo Switch. While this latest post is intended to promote the Mega Man Legacy Collection 1&2, which is releasing on the 22nd of May, it still made fans wonder if this is another tease for Mega Man joining Nintendo's All-Star brawler.

Nothing official has been said but Mega Man coming back for Super Smash Bros. on the Nintendo Switch is more than likely, especially now that Capcom wants to bring new life into the Mega Man franchise and the Nintendo Switch is the perfect way to promote, and perhaps even introduce, the character to the audiences ahead of the Mega Man 11 release. Let's just hope that they know what they are doing posting those tweets and don't end up shooting themselves in the foot if Mega Man is nowhere to be seen once Super Smash Bros. for the Switch is released. In the meantime, all we can do is keep waiting for that official announcement during this year's E3 on the 12th of June.
