Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be releasing exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in just two weeks' time. It's developed by both Nintendo and Game Freak.

The latter of those is the same studio responsible for the Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu and Pokémon: Let's Go Eevee games that released last year. Unfortunately, Game Freak recently admitted that there aren't currently any plans to continue the Pokémon: Let's Go series — but you can find out more on that here.

We've had quite a few trailers and glimpses at both Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield but just how much content will each of the game hold? Well, it should apparently take casual players about fifty hours to beat. However, if you consider yourself a completionist then you should add another one-hundred hours to that playtime.

Shigeru Ohmori, the director of the upcoming games, recently told Game Informer the following in terms of how much content they will feature:

I think it’s hard to go into details of that, but in terms of the volume or the amount of content in the main adventure, it’s comparable to other Pokemon generations that we’ve played. I think there’s a lot of interesting activities that, for example, completing the Pokédex or really going out into the Wild Area and engaging with those mechanics, that’ll add a lot of replay value for players who are looking to get really hardcore into that.

As mentioned, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are about two weeks away from release. Despite that, you can now purchase and pre-load either version of the game from the Nintendo eShop. This will mean that, come November 15th, you'll be able to pick up your switch and get to work battling Pokémon right off the bat.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments—idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. The people and Pokémon live together in this region, and they’ve worked together to develop the industries here.

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be available for the Nintendo Switch on November 15th, 2019.
