Yesterday, a rumor was doing the rounds suggesting that
Platinum Games was considering reviving their cancelled Scalebound project. This revival would have seen the game coming back as a Nintendo Switch exclusive title, which was originally meant to be exclusive for the Xbox One.
Nintendo Insider where the ones who first broke the news about
Scalebound, claiming that their trusted sources had some scoops that pointed to Nintendo and Platinum Games teaming up to bring the action role-playing game back.
The plot thickens as JP Kellams, former Creative Producer at Platinum Games, believes that
Scalebound being revived as a Nintendo Switch exclusive game is highly unlikely.
In his tweet, Kellams says that — although he doesnt work for Platinum Games any more — he highly doubts the whole rumor is even a thing, although he does mention that he hasn't really talked to anyone about it.
Kellams sayings are being backed up by Kotaku's Jason Schreier, who has also spoken his mind on a Resetera thread and believes that, if anything, those
Scalebound rumors were floating around last summer; suggesting that Platinum games was not working on
Scalebound, but on
Astral Chain.
It seems that there's little to no substantial evidence supporting this
Scalebound revival rumor, which is definitely disappointing news for people anticipating the game. We'll still have to keep waiting to see how the story develops but, as of now, it seems everything's already been said and done.
