SNK is celebrating their 40th anniversary this year and they sure know how to make people excited over it. So far, the Japanese company has announced that a
SNK 40th Anniversary Collection game will be coming out this November. Earlier in May, SNK also announced that they were working on a SNK Neo Geo Mini but we weren't given too many details about it—in fact, we only saw it under wraps.
The SNK Neo Geo was leaked earlier in May but we still had no idea if
the leaked images were real due to them not coming from SNK—although, they looked pretty real. The console was
finally shown a week after the leaks and it looked simply gorgeous.
Today, SNK has released the SNK Neo Geo Mini's very first trailer, and it goes over every single one of the details they've shared in the past—the difference now is that we're finally seeing the console in action and it looks every bit as awesome as we thought it would look.
The console looks exactly like a Neo Geo arcade, only smaller—featuring the classic arcade stick, as well as the iconic 4 buttons, with a functional screen. The console is also including a pretty long charging cord. The SNK Neo Geo can also be connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, although they specify that it is sold separately. Speaking of accessories, SNK will also be selling a classic-looking Neo Geo controller that looks just like the Neo Geo CD controller—only these ones come with a USB-C port. Two players can connect their controllers to the Neo Geo Mini.
As per the games, it comes with 40 SNK classics, which will allow players to create save states any time they want—letting them stop playing and picking the game right up where they left off. The one thing that the trailer doesn't tell us is the date these will be releasing so we will have to wait a little bit longer for an official announcement.
