Ever since Rocksteady released the brilliant Batman: Arkham Asylum game back in 2009, fans of Superman have been clamouring for the British game developer to begin working on a
Superman game.
Rocksteady has constantly delivered the ultimate Batman experience with their
Batman Arkham series, but the developer has been reported to be working on a new project for a while; one that doesn't involve Batman.
The interesting thing about this is the fact that Rocksteady has been playing coy when asked about this secret project—revealing absolutely no hints about what the mystery game could be;
which has led fans to believe they are, indeed, working on a Superman game.
In June,
another rumour about the long-awaited, and yet-to-be-confirmed game by Rocksteady seemed to have revealed that it actually was a Superman game titled Superman: World's Finest, which would be officially revealed during this year's E3. To everyone's disappointment, however, Rocksteady's game was nowhere to be found at E3; with the developer neither denying nor confirming what the mysterious game was.
New information has surfaced online that seems to confirm that
Superman: World's Finest is, indeed, the real name of the game, and that it has been in development at Rocksteady like everyone already assumed. The news comes from
Resetera user est1992, who noticed that Game System Requirements had listed
Superman: World's Finest on their site.
Superman: World's Finest, according to Game System Requirements, is an action-adventure game that still has no official release date. The game is developed by Rocksteady Studios and the official system requirements have yet to be revealed.
This is obviously a rumour, so nothing here is 100% certain until we hear from Rocksteady themselves, but to add some veracity to the source, a similar listing was posted on Game System Requirements back in May; which seemingly confirmed that Capcom was working on
Devil May Cry V.
At the time,
Devil May Cry V was considered only but a rumour, but Capcom finally revealed
Devil May Cry V during this year's E3. Again, this is in no way confirmation that Rocksteady is working on
Superman: World's Finest, so all we can do now is keep our fingers crossed and wait for that inevitable announcement.
