Gamescom is just around the corner, which will be taking place from Tuesday the 20th of August throughout Saturday the 24th of August, and some interesting details have already begun to be revealed online.

Sega just revealed this morning, via a press release, that they're planning on announcing a new game during this year's Gaescom. As per Sega's announcement, "an all-new AAA game that has yet to be revealed to the public," although we have no idea what this mysterious title could be.

This new Triple-A title will be available at Sega's booth alongside Catherine: Full Body, Two Point Hospital, and the soon-to-be-released Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Mini — so fans have a quite a few things to look forward to from Sega.

Could this new game be a brand-new intellectual property? Or is Sega going to rely on well-established franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog for this mystery title?

The original Sonic the Hedgehog was released in 1991, and announcing a 30th Anniversary Sonic the Hedgehog game — in the same vein of Sonic Generations being released for the character's 20th anniversary — could well be a possibility, but a brand-new IP is just as plausible. We'll just have to patiently wait and see what Sega has in store for this year's Gamescom.
