Blade Strangers is Studio Saizensen's 2D fighting game that seeks to bring back the classic 2D sprite art style, as well as becoming one of the first crossover fighting game with characters from other popular indie games.

Needless to say, Blade Strangers is turning out to be quite the ambitious project and, if we go by what we've seen in the character introduction trailers—as well as some gameplay footage Nicalis released a while ago—it seems that the game is on the right path to become an instant classic.

So far we've been introduced to the Shovel Knight from the game Shovel Knight, Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt, as well as Quote and Curly Brace from Cave Story—amongst others—that are making an appearance as guest characters. Now is the turn for Code Princess EX characters Solange and Ali to get the spotlight as well as Blade Strangers' main antagonist Lina.

Check it out:

A malevolent force known only as Lina is devouring data from a vast, interdimensional network of servers overseen by sentient computers called ”motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from a variety of parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one-on-one combat. The tournament victor has the potential to be awakened as the Blade Stranger—the savior who can vanquish Lina and protect the motes from further harm!

Blade Strangers hasn't been given an official release date but is expected to come out for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Steam this Summer.
