The long-rumored
Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is real and it's coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3rd, Gearbox Software announced during their recent panel at PAX East 2019.
According to Gearbox,
Game of the Year Edition will feature many major improvements over its original 2009 version, including a
Borderlands 2-style mini-map, a new set of six named, custom-skinned Legendary weapons, and even some cosmetic customization options. Those who already own the base game will get the updated version for free, but it only applies to the PC version of the first
Borderlands.
The
GOTY will feature the base game and its four DLCs:
The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, and finally
Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution.
Furthermore, a free
Ultra HD Pack is headed to
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on Wednesday.
As revealed by Gearbox, "
The Ultra HD Texture Pack is a free visual upgrade available to both new and existing product owners. On PS4 Pro, the texture pack will appear as downloadable content on the digital product page for The Handsome Collection. On PC and Xbox One X, players will have the option to download the texture pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2 separately."
