As predicted, Microsoft has announced two new Gears of War games at E3 2018, and both of them are coming out in the next few years. Gears Tactics is a Windows 10 exclusive strategy game similar to the XCOM series, and the other one, Gears 5 is the PC and Xbox One title that will continue the story of Marcus Michael Fenix, Kait Diaz, and living in the fallen world in the post-Locust War era.

Head of The Coalition Rod Fergusson has revealed that "Gears of War is still the franchise name but now that we’re doing a family of products it made more sense to shorten the titles down – Gears Pop, Gears Tactics & Gears 5. Plus we always just call it Gears anyway so it feels good to simplify."

Gears 5 sees Kait taking front-and-center as the series' first female protagonist and the game will support online co-op and local split screen for two players. The Xbox One X and Windows 10 users will have a chance to experience 4K resolution with stunning HDR at a smooth 60 frames per second. Microsoft has released four new Ultra HD screenshots featuring the new main hero. Take a look:

Gears 5 is coming in 2019.
