Publisher Paradox Interactive won't stop supporting their acclaimed historic strategy game
Europa Universalis IV (currently sitting at an 87% MetaScore), as the latest paid DLC gives you a chance to embark on a brand new journey in The New World. The
Golden Century DLC (which requires the base game
Europa Universalis IV on Steam in order to play) even allows you to play as pirate nations!
Unfortunately, the first reviews for
Golden Century suggest that the latest Paradox's production is simply not worth its price (currently $9,99). While the DLC does include 20 unique infantry units for Granada/Andalucía, Navarra, Leon/Galicia, Salé, Pirates and 10 to 12 minutes of original music, it may not be enough to justify the high price of the DLC that is filled with many bugs and shortcomings.
Players would like to explore this New World as Portugal should be prepared to be disappointed, as Paradox has seemingly forgotten that The Portuguese Empire was the earliest and longest lived of the modern European colonial empires, as it is represented by one single province in the game. While
Golden Century may not be what the fans have been waiting for, take a look at the DLC down below:
Columbus might not have been the first, but he was the most important. His voyages to the New World were quickly exploited by an ascendant Spanish Crown, leading that great Catholic kingdom to over a century of dominance at the center of European politics. The gold of the Aztecs and silver of Peru laid the foundations of a global empire that stretched from Mexico to Madrid to Manila.
