Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania game in 2D, developed by Australian independent studio Team Cherry, that was released for the Nintendo Switch and Steam(Windows, macOS, Linux) earlier this year.

The game has been a massive hit since it was released, getting critical praise for its amazing gameplay, atmospheric soundtrack, great level design, and its beautiful art style. Last month, Team Cherry announced that Hollow Knight had sold 1 million units on PC, the news came two weeks after they announced that the game had sold a very respectable 250.000 units on the Nintendo Switch.

Today, Team Cherry has made a different announcement as they have decided to rename their Hollow Knight 'Gods & Glory' free expansion to 'Godmaster'. The reason for this is because they are trying to avoid conflict with a mobile game called Gods & Glory developed by Wargaming Group.

As per the announcement, they do mention that the new name, Godmaster, is 100 times cooler, and more "Hollow Knight", and they are right. Now, fans will have to wait only a little bit longer for the Hollow Knight: Godmaster free expansion, which will become available on the 23rd of August.

The statement by Team Cherry reads as follows:

Hey Everyone,

Small update to let you know of a last-minute development. As of today, Hollow Knight’s upcoming Free Content Pack is getting a snazzy new name. Formerly Hollow Knight: G*ds & Gl*ry,  Free Content Pack 4 will forever-more be known as:

Hollow Knight: Godmaster

That’s right! We’ve upgraded the name to be bigger and better than ever! The Free Content Pack still features the exact same content, and is still releasing for players on Nintendo Switch, Windows, Mac & Linux on August 23rd.

So why the 11th hour change? Well not only is the new name 100 times cooler, more distinct, more ‘Hollow Knight’, it also doesn’t conflict with the title of a certain mobile game, made by a very large, very powerful video game company! It’s a win win all-round! Now, let’s all take a moment to enjoy this stylish upgrade.

Forge your own path in Hollow Knight for Nintendo Switch! An epic action adventure through a vast ruined kingdom of insects and heroes. Explore twisting caverns, battle tainted creatures and befriend bizarre bugs, all in a classic, hand-drawn 2D style.

Hollow Knight is available for the Nintendo Switch, and Steam right now.
