Playtonic, the developer that brought us both Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair — titles based on the Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country series, respectively — have recently revealed that they fully support the speedrun community.

For those who still haven't played it, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a game that is very speedrun-friendly. In fact, the game actually allows players to dive right into the Impossible Lair — the game's final level — as soon as they begin playing the game.

In regards to the multiple speedruns of the game that the people over at Playtonic have watched, the developers recently revealed that they are fascinated by what they have seen, promising that they have no plans to "fix" the shortcuts that speedrunners have found; further encouraging the speedrunning community to speedrun their game.

"We are proud of you for outsmarting our dev team," Playtonic proudly revealed in a recent tweet posted on their official Twitter account; something that should make speedrunners, as well as the community as a whole, more than happy.

Many developers tend to fix any exploits they see after their games have been released, so it is very nice to see Playtonic embracing the speedrun community and the exploits they have found.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a fantastic 2D platformer that everyone should play, especially since the game is available on pretty much every current-gen platform, and at a very fair price. If you are one of those who still hasn't had the chance to play it, well, go play it right now; soundtrack alone is already worth your time.

Rescue Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion Guard and prepare to take on Capital B’s most dastardly challenge yet in this brand new platforming adventure hybrid!Yooka and Laylee must combine their abilities to take on a series of challenging and vibrant side-scrolling levels, as well as explore and solve puzzles in the beautiful overworld.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam, GOG).
