Codemasters’ Onrush is finally available for Xbox One and PS4. The launch trailer has been released, showcasing some of the cooler weather effects and relentless action. Car customization is also teased through close up shots and we get to see some Mario Kart-y abilities in action, including creating shields, the most practical way to defend - and as you may know, defense is the best offense.
MotorStorm and Driveclub developer Evolution Studios was officially closed by Sony two years ago, but Codemasters has decided to to hire some of the skilled developers who worked on one of the best arcade racing games of the last generation and tasked them with producing a worthy successor of Sony's abandoned and sadly long-forgotten series. It looks like the studio has delivered the goods.
Though Codemasters hasn’t said too much about its post-launch plans, we do know that Onrush will be receiving ranked multiplayer down the line. Considering that Onrush is getting pretty good reviews, there's a chance that the publisher won't let the title die anytime soon. It's truly refreshing to see a high-octane action in a racing game after all these years with slow (and boring) Need for Speeds.
