Ahead of the early access release of
Radical Heights, the new '80s action-inspired battle royale game from Boss Key, the developer has chosen to remove one of the bonuses included in the Founder's Pack.
Boss Key designed
Radical Heights as a free-to-play game, assuring players there would be no pay-to-win mechanics. However, there were some concerns with the 10% Cash Boost that it would give those who
purchased the Founder's Pack for $14.99 an unfair advantage. Boss Key originally tried defending the system, explaining to IGN,
“All matches start as a blank slate for all players with $0 in their in-game cash wallet. It's up to players to see if they want to risk grabbing cash from their ‘Offshore Bank’ or just look for weapons and gear can be found naturally in the world like other Battle Royale games.”
The developer added that the 10% cash boost is only applied to the money you add to your account after a match ends, not to the cash you pick up during that actual match. Boss Key also tried to emphasize that withdrawing cash would be a "risk versus reward" decision as taking that money out of your ATM wouldn't be so easy. “You’re in-game cash wallet always starts at $0 when you enter the match (for every player),” Boss Key explained. “Taking out cash takes time and effort, leaving you vulnerable while you do so. Simply put: this leaves you very vulnerable… you can get shot in the back!”
In any case, none of that matters anymore as Boss Key announced the removal of the 10% Cash Bonus. Founders will now get more RAD GEMS to purchase cosmetics with.
Radical Heights releases for free on PC via Steam as an X-TREME Early Access Battle Royale shooter. This will allow players to provide valuable feedback on the game - like voicing their concerns about the Founders Pack Cash Bonus - ahead of its official launch.
