Warren Spector, the mastermind behind the original
Deus Ex and the
System Shock series has revealed that he was working on a role-playing title set in the rich
Command & Conquer universe. In 1996, Spector was about to sign a contract with EA to produce the game, when he got a call from
Doom Designer John Romero to join him at Ion Storm and produce what would ultimately become
Dues Ex.
In a recent interview with VG247, Spector revealed some juicy details on the cancelled project. “
It was going to look a lot like Deus Ex,” Spector said.
“I knew what kind of game I wanted to make. I had a lot of the gameplay and the vision was there. It was going to be set in a very different world." Just like his
Dues Ex games, this
C&C RPG was also going to be a pure first-person experience.
While mobile
C&C: Rivals is still happening, Producer at Electronic Arts Jim Vessella has promised that the company has some plans to celebrate the upcoming 25th Year Anniversary of the very first
Command & Conquer game with the remaster the original
Command &Conquer and the
Red Alert spin-off, as Spector's Otherside Entertainment recently launched his new RPG
Underworld Ascendant.
From the creative minds behind the acclaimed Ultima Underworld series, in Underworld Ascendant, Paul Neurath and Warren Spector's OtherSide Entertainment is innovating upon the series’ signature player-authored gameplay in bold new ways and bringing the ‘immersive sim’ genre forward in a breathtaking fantasy realm, rife with danger and full of intrigue.
