As you may know, Soulstorm, the new expansion for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, will be out soon. THQ recently released a single player demo for download.
The bad news? It's only a single player demo, and only the Dark Eldar are playable in the demo (we were looking forward to trying out the Sister's of Battle).
At first blush, this seems like bad news, but after firing it up, and playing the Dark Eldar for a bit, we decided they weren't so bad.
Their ability to harvest souls to use their special abilities is a nice twist on the Warhammer 40K gameplay. You could think of the Dark Eldar as a cross between the Chaos Marines, and the Eldar.
There were only two battles playable in the demo, so we didn't get to do a ton.
With two new races, and air units (among other things), we're very excited for this new expansion. The fact that you can play it stand-alone, or with any (or all) of the previous games/expansions really is going to make this a must-have for any Warhammer enthusiast, but more importantly for all of the RTS gamers out there.
Now if they would only get an official site up so that we can really get down to the nitty-gritty of what the expansion will include...
