Galaxy in Turmoil was originally intended to be a spiritual successor to the cancelled Free Radical shooter
Star Wars: Battlefront 3. In 2016, LucasFilm asked producer Frontwire Studios to shut down the ambitious project because of LucasFilm's exclusive licensing deal with EA, the studio that was working on the beloved series sequel, DICE's
Star Wars: Battlefront II which officially launched in 2017.
Thankfully for fans, Valve agreed to allow the project to be released (for free) on Steam as a brand new, unrelated to
Star Wars game. The studio went silent for over a year, but it looks like the works on
Galaxy in Turmoil are going pretty well, as Frontwire Studios has decided to release a gameplay footage from the game current Pre-Alpha version, featuring some in-space flights and third-person shooting.
The sci-fi shooter looks like a baby of the original
Star Wars: Battlefront and
Star Fox, a science fiction video game series created by Nintendo. According to Frontwire,
Galaxy in Turmoil will allow you to explore the vast galaxy at your own pace while experiencing exciting missions and meeting unique companions pretending that EA's take on the original
Star Wars: Battlefront series never happened...
Frontwire Studios is working around the clock to develop Galaxy in Turmoil. Developed on the ever-popular Unreal Engine 4 by Epic Games, Galaxy in Turmoil boasts massive 32v32 player maps with full ground to space battles and an all new never before seen competitive mode.
Frontwire Studios' Galaxy in Turmoil doesn't have a release date yet.
