From January 2018 - May 2018, Steam had a total of 13.5 million purchases made by first-time users. That figure alone is absolutely insane and makes you wonder about how the number of transactions made by repeat Steam customers.
That startling reveal came by way of Valve business development manager Jan-Peter Ewert, while speaking at the Business Conference for Games Industry event in Russia this week,
In talking about Steam's growth, Ewert went on to reveal that its peak concurrent users (the number of people on Steam at any given moment) in 2014 was somewhere between 5 and 10 million. In 2018, that number has jumped to 20 million. Continuing on, Steam receives about 40 million active users in a single day, stated Ewert.
Of course, a few gaming skeptics are wondering how many of those accounts are legit as the recent banning of over 1 million PUBG accounts over ramped cheating was a big story earlier in the year.
