Developer OtherSide Entertainment has released the first trailer for
Underworld Ascendant, the latest game from legendary
Deus Ex and
System Shock developer Warren Spector and Ultima Underworld creator Paul Neurath. Ascendant will serve as a sequel to
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss which was released in 1992. Spector and Neuraths are not the only skilled devs who produce the game.
The OtherSide team also includes
Bioshock Infinite’s writer Joe Fielder and
System Shock’s lead designer Tim Stellmach. OtherSide was originally founded by Neurath in 2013 as Cerulean Sky Productions. The studio is currently working on
Ascendant and also on the third chapter in the ground-breaking, highly-influential
System Shock series as
Underworld will be available only on PC this year.
The announcement trailer features some of the locations and enemies of the Stygian Abyss, along with the warning that it’ll soon be destroyed without your help. The project successfully went through Kickstarter back in 2015, raising $860,000 in funding and you can wishlist the game on Steam now to get the latest updates.
