Developed by CreativeForge Games and published by Good Shepherd Entertainment, Phantom Doctrine is an action turn-based strategy game delving into the world of espionage set during the Cold War era. The game looks to bring back the turn-based and tactical RPG style back to the shooter genre, reminiscent of the X-COM series.
It seamlessly blends gameplay and action sequences to further tell stories for the characters used for each mission, and through their very own website harkens that there's over 40+ hours of single player campaign storylines, a very impressive feat, if true, for any game company, AAA or not.
The game also features a very detailed character creation, one which will allow for multiple creations for the same character, as a way to let players really dive into the espionage world to make sure their characters are equipped with the necessary forged documents and looks to continue their missions.
Here is the Official trailer released back at E3 in June this year:
The year is 1983. The world teeters on the verge of destruction as the Cold War tightens its icy grip. East or West: trust no one, question everything. The fate of humanity rests in your hands as you pit spy versus spy in tactical Phantom Doctrine.
Phantom Doctrine is available today, August 14th, for the Playstation 4 and Windows PC for $39.99 USD $35.99 USD (10% off sale on both the PS Store and Steam), and will be available on August 24th for the Xbox One.
