Indie developer All Possible Futures' upcoming action-adventure game The Plucky Squire will be a day one PlayStation Plus title on Game Catalog, Sony announced. Last week, Sony provided some updated details on a slew of indie games coming to PlayStation, confirming The Plucky Squire will be available for free to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members on September 17th

While it will be free for PS Plus members, the game is still coming to Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on September 17th. Pre-order details, such as pricing or any special editions, have not been revealed.

The Plucky Squire is an adorable-looking action-adventure inspired by the childhood wonder of playing games. The game follows storybook characters on an adventure beyond the 2D pages of their storybook. As they protect their land from the villainous sorcerer, Humgrump, the group of adventurers travel to an entirely new 3D realm where they face all-new challenges.

The Plucky Squire follows the magical adventures of Jot and his friends - storybook characters who discover a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book. When the malevolent Humgrump realizes he's the villain of the book - destined to lose his battle against the forces of good for all eternity - he kicks the heroic Jot out of its pages and changes the story forever.

As an action-adventure, The Plucky Squire looks to offer a mix of traditional combat and unique puzzle solving that involves 2D and 3D spaces. Players can look forward to all sorts of mini-challenges that play with the various environments that Jot and his companions discover.

While All Possible Futures initially planned for the game to be about three to five hours long, the developer recently revealed that "it felt right to try and fit in more and more of those wondrous moments." As such, the developer has doubled the initial content and now expect it to take players between eight to ten hours to complete in a first playthrough.

In addition to The Plucky Squire, other indie games slated to arrive on PlayStation in the coming weeks include Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged and Sulfur.

Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is an enhanced version of the classic adventure game, featuring over 30,000 animation frames and over 50 times the resolution than the original PlayStation version, with the graphics redrawn in 4K. It arrives on PS5 on September 19th. Sulfur is a cartoony FPS "for shooter fans and people who enjoy RPG elements." It's coming to PS5 and PS4 in 2025.
