Sony has been filing quite a bunch of patents that have seemingly revealed the PlayStation 5's DualShock 5 controller; from the first patent that
unofficially gave us our first look at the controller to a patent that allegedly reveals that the
DualShock 5 will be featuring two extra buttons.
The latest patent that Sony has filed is also, unsurprisingly at this point, for the DualShock 5 — athough this could actually be a real game changer for the PlayStation VR brand, as the new controller may seemingly give players biofeedback and modifies their gameplay experience accordingly.
According to the patent, the DualShock 5 will be collecting and outputting this biofeedback information, transmit it to the processing device, updating this information using captured images, and will finally be modifying the user's experience using the collected information.
By collecting biofeedback, the console could be able to determine the user's levels of stress when playing certain sections of whatever game it is that they are playing, and will likely modify the experience depending on the results this feedback throws. This is only speculation, however, since Sony has not revealed exactly how this feature will work.
While Sony doesn't specify if this will be a feature for the PlayStation 5 or the VR headset, collecting biofeedback could work great on both devices alike. Hopefully Sony will be unveiling the PlayStation 5 soon, since the console is expected to launch this Holiday season and we know almost nothing about it.
