A couple of weeks ago, Sony announced that they would be offering a limited edition PlayStation 4 in order to celebrate selling 500 million PlayStation consoles since the console's very beginning back in 1994—
unveiling the 500 Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro.
This limited edition PlayStation 4 Pro will be available in limited quantities around the world so they urged fans to get it while they could. They also showed off the Limited Edition 500 Million Gold Headset, which is not included in the console bundle, and will be available as of next month—although they didn't exactly say when.
Today, Sony has shared a very short video that takes us back in time as they show us all 4 of the PlayStation consoles they've manufactured since 1994. The video also shows games such as the PlayStation 1's
Gran Turismo,
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for the PlayStation 2,
Uncharted for the PlayStation 3, and
God of War for the PlayStation 4.
Each of those games have been very representative of the console they were released for, with
Gran Turismo selling over 10 million copies; being the best-selling game on the original PlayStation as of 2013,
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for the PlayStation 2 becoming the best-selling game on that console in the United States,
Uncharted on the PlayStation 3—which kickstarted one of Sony Entertainment and Naughty Dog's most ambitious franchises of all time, and Santa Monica's
God of War on the PlayStation 4—managing to
sell an impressive 5 million copies within its first month since release.
