The NPD Group has a monthly report where they go over the sales and overall statistics of games and their accessories. In the video for May, they state the money spent on hardware rose by 15 percent to $1.3 billion. Mainly due to the PS4, Xbox One and smaller devices like the SNES Classic.
The hardware sales for the month of May were the highest since 2011. The PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch broke records.
However, the hardware that had the most sales for that month was the all-mighty PS4, it is still the best-selling console. Microsoft doesn't stay down, their exclusive game, State of Decay 2 was the top-selling game of the month. Check out the NPD's video for the complete numbers.
