The PlayStation Awards have been held every year since the inception of the original PlayStation in 1994, with this year marking the 24th event, recognizing hit game titles sold in PlayStation platform on the Japan and Asia regions. This year, you will also have a chance watch the ceremony on YouTube, as Sony Interactive Entertainment will live stream PlayStation Awards 2018 on December 3 at 16:45 JST.
Software titles will compete in six categories:
Platinum Prize (games with an accumulated shipment quantity of over 1 million copies),
Gold Prize (over 500,000 copies sold),
PlayStation Network Award (top 3 network sales titles),
Users' Choice Award (top 10 titles voted by Asia users),
PlayStation VR Award (games that contributed to the sales of PlayStation VR), and
Indies & Developer Award (3 titles).
The YouTube live stream will be available in Japanese and English, but you shouldn't expect to see any major announcements, as it's not that kind of a show. The PlayStation Awards’ main target is allowing PlayStation fans across the Japan and Asia regions to know more about the awarded titles and experience the passion put into the game titles by game creators, not teasing any new projects.
