Riot Games has shared the first teaser trailer for Arcane Season 2. While it's less than a minute in length, it does seemingly confirm a popular fan theory from the first season.
The teaser begins with a blurred look at Singed who looks to be undergoing a blood transfusion. In the background, we hear some heavy growling. As the blood flows through the tubes, Singed checks his pocket watch and the camera zooms out, revealing a massive beast-like creature above him. That's it.
Although brief, the teaser seems to confirm that Vander, the adoptive father of Vi and Power who died in Season 1, is, in fact, Warwick. Vander, the unspoken leader and protector of the undercity, appeared to have died in the first season of the series. However, as teased in episode 9 Season 1, Singed found Vander's body and took it back to his lab.
It was theorized during the first season that Vander would become Warwick, a theory that gained further steam with the League of Legends profile page for the character. According to Warwick's bio, he's a monster who has been "transformed by agonizing experiments" and his body "fused with an intricate system of chambers and pumps, machinery filling his veins with alchemical rage."
With the teaser seemingly confirming that Vander has become Warwick, it can be assumed that the monstrous beast will play a major role in Season 2 of Arcane.
Season 1 of Arcane debuted on Netflix in November 2021. The CG-animated series follows the conflict between the rich utopian city of PIltover and its seedy, oppressed underbelly of Zaun. At the forefront of the series is the origin story of two sisters, Jinx (Ella Purnell) -- also known as Powder -- and Vi (Hailee Steinfeld). The first season laid the groundwork for the brewing war between the two cities, which in turn helped drive a wedge between the two sisters, completely transforming the characters by the end.
Arcane is based on the popular multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends, which was developed and released by Riot Games in 2009. While the series did feature some of the characters from the game, such as Caitlyn (Elsa Davoine), Ekko (Reed Shannon), Jayce (Kevin Alejandro), Singed (Brett Tucker), Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert), and Viktor (Harry Lloyd), it also introduced some brand new characters, like Silco, who would later be added to the League of Legends auto chess spin-off, Teamfight Tactics.
Riot Games hasn't shared many plot details for Season 2 of Arcane, but we can look forward to the series' return on Netflix in November 2024.
