Earlier today, Bethesda announced that Amazon Studios has licensed the rights to the best-selling, and critically acclaimed Fallout franchise, which will see the studio teaming up with producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy's Kilter Films to work on a series.
As per the announcement, Nolan and Joy will be working closely with Bethesda Games Director and Executive Producer Todd Howard, as well as the rest of the team of developers that have brought to life the Fallout series.
"Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios," reads Kilter Films' official statement on this new Fallout series.
Howard also mentions that the idea of a Fallout series has been around for a few years now, but it wasn't until he met Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy that this idea materialised into something a little bit more plausible, as they are the right people to make this happen.
"Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen. But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’' be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios," reveals Howard.
Chief Operating Office and Co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios Albert Cheng also sees a great opportunity in this Fallout series, and expects Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to deliver a top quality product, and he's thrilled to see what comes out of their partnership with Bethesda.
"Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it. And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life. We’re thrilled to join with Bethesda to bring Fallout to television," read Cheng's statement.
Information about the Fallout series itself was not shared, but Bethesda will still be working closely with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films, so the end product will more than likely satisfy fans of the best-selling Fallout franchise.
