Last month, Netflix debuted an exciting trailer for their upcoming, live-action series based on Andrzej Sapkowski's best-selling book series and CD Projekt Red's popular video games of the same name.
The Witcher will be releasing exclusively on Netflix on December 20th.
Henry Cavill (
Mission: Impossible — Fallout) stars as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra (
Wanderlust) as Yennefer, and Freya Allan (
Into the Badlands) as Ciri. Lauren S. Hissrich serves as the showrunner of
The Witcher. Recently, Hissrich revealed that she has mapped out seven seasons of the series —
which you can find out more about here.
Even more recently than that, the showrunner took to social media to tease that
The Witcher could run for at least twenty years if all goes to plan.
"It was reported yesterday that I had seven seasons mapped out. I said in another panel that the show could run for 20 years, there’s so much material. Keep the faith!" read Hissrich's tweet (
@LHissrich) — which you can check out below:
The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.
The Witcher will arrive on Netflix on December 20th, 2019.
