Today is a very special day for the video game community, as Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S become the first next-gen consoles — which could now technically be considered current-gen, actually — to have released worldwide; properly kickstarting the new generation of consoles.
If you happen to be an Xbox fan, chances are that you already decided to purchase either the Xbox Series X or its low-end, albeit quite capable, counterpart — unless you are one of the unfortunate players who recently got some sour news from Amazon; in which case, we all feel for you.
Whatever the case, today is a day that should be widely celebrated by all players alike, no matter which console they purchase, as this marks the beginning of a new generation of consoles that looks even more promising than the last, as it aims to deliver immersive experiences like players have never seen before.
Microsoft's Vice President of Gaming Phil Spencer is in a festive mood, and has shared a special, heartfelt message in order to celebrate the release of the highly anticipated Xbox Series X|S, thanking the Xbox community as a whole for their unconditional support.
"For Team Xbox, being connected through play will always be worth celebrating. While today we celebrate the launch of Xbox Series X and Series S, we are actually celebrating something much bigger, and more important than that: the whole Xbox community all around the world, no matter what device you play on," stated Spencer.
"Gaming has the power to inspire. To connect, and entertain us, and this next generation of gaming is coming at a time when the ability to play is more important than ever," he continued, while adding that "There are three billion people who play video games today across the globe. Our vision is to making gaming great for every player; on every device, for every generation, and every location around the world."
"The launch of Xbox Series X and Series S marks a moment for us. To celebrate the power of play together. So, thank you for being a part of our community, our journey, and sharing with us the joy of gaming," Spencer concluded.
