In this day and age of modern first and third person shooters, the hottest thing is for you to be a studio and make a Battle Royale. These games have different opinion between players out there, but for the most part they always seem to be somewhat successful. Heck, it's gotten to the point that a new BR can drop overnight and magically be one of the most played games for many months to come (looking at you Apex Legends).
But even though the landscape is changing, many fans just want their multiplayer based FPS to simply go back to the classic roots of 6v6 team death-match, or good old fashion death-match. And with the launch of Halo: Infinite, it seems that will be the case. A rumor recently started to circulate that the hot new upcoming Halo title would hit shelves physically and digitally with it's own BR. But Frank O'Connor, the director behind Infinite, has gone ahead and made sure to shoot those rumors down.
"We will not talk about the launch content of Halo Infinite until we're ready. I haven't watched the video so if I am misinterpreting the headline as 'Halo Infinite is launching with/as a Halo battle royale mode' that is still not the case. You can probably make your own battle royale mode in Forge even right now though."
Cold words for any die-hard BR players out there, but surely words of encouragement for classic PvP fans. O'Connor is doing the right thing by saying this however. If he were to let the rumor run wild, players who enjoy BR's would be very disappointed to get their hands on a copy of Infinite only to realize that it doesn't feature a BR mode like they originally thought. So he's helping to keep the expectations of many right where they should be.
Soon we will have a better idea on what features will be in the game, but as of right now, Halo: Infinite will not feature a BR game mode.
