Since
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 released way back in 2011, there have been countless rumours that the series will be making its return. Evidently, these rumours have proven to be inaccurate. However, with Infinity Ward taking the reigns of the first-person-shooter series yet again, it now seems likely that 2019 will yield the long-awaited fourth instalment.
Following many supposed leaks and rumours that this year's
Call of Duty title will be
Modern Warfare 4, Robert Bowling, a former Creative Strategist for Infinity War recently put out a couple of tweets (
@fourzerotwo) which only stoke the fire.
Bowling hasn't been involved with Infinity Ward since 2012, following the release of 2012, though it's entirely likely that he's still in contact with those who do work for the studio and is very aware of what's going on behind closed doors.
You can check out all of the seeming teasers below. The first tweet is a picture of Task Force 141, ahead of Operation Kingfish. The player is greeted with this photo at the very end of
Modern Warfare 3. The second tweet features some iconic narration from Captain Price over a clip of, fan-favourite character, Ghost's death from
Modern Warfare 2.
The other tweets from Bowling, in response to edited photos of himself with a "MW4" logo on his shirt, essentially confirm that
Modern Warfare 4 is indeed coming down the pipeline. So, of course, take it with a pinch of salt. But it seems pretty clear what's going on here.
