For anyone not familiar with
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, it is a spiritual successor of Sega's acclaimed
Wonder Boy series — which, to be quite fair, feels more like a direct sequel than a spiritual successor; making it an even better experience for fans of the original titles.
The game follows the story of Jin, who is suddenly transformed into a humanoid pig by someone close to him for no apparent reason, from then on he embarks on an adventure to save Monster World Kingdom from a lurking evil presence.
Besides the fantastic level design the game has, perhaps the thing that stands out the most about
Monster Boy and the Curse Kingdom — besides all of the fan service for fans of the
Wonder Boy series, that is — is its presentation; featuring a beautiful hand-drawn art style that makes everything in the game simply pop.
FDG Entertainment announced earlier in June that
Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom would become available for PC(Steam and GOG) on the
25th of July, and now that we're only a day away from the game's release, they've posted a friendly reminder to, well, remind players of the game's launch tomorrow.
