Independet studio Yacht Club Games revealed in August of last year that they were working on a brand-new Shovel Knight fighting game that borrowed some elements from other party fighting games like Nintendo's critically acclaimed, and long-running Super Smash Bros. series.

Much like in the Super Smash Bros. series, in Shovel Knight: Showdown players will fight against either the CPU or their friends in 1-vs-1 or 4-player free-for-all matches; with the goal being to knock opponents out of the stage in order to rack up points.

Today, Yacht Club Games has released a new gameplay trailer for Shovel Knight: Showdown, which showcases Shovel Knight himself; showing off some of the popular character's moveset, which have all been faithfully borrowed from the original Shovel Knight title.

Check it out:

Duel with up to 4 players and scramble after gems as your favorite heroic or villainous knight in Shovel Knight Showdown. All the classic Shovel Knight characters you know and love are playable, many for the first time ever! Gather your pals for endless multiplayer clashes, or take control of your favorite character and dig into Story Mode. Familiar controls, items, and mechanics return, making this a platform fighting game that anyone can jump into and try.

Shovel Knight: Showdown will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux, and Amazon FireTV in December of 2019.
