Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair was revealed back in June ahead of this year's E3, and it is the sequel of the Banjo-Kazooie spiritual successor simply called Yooka-Laylee; a 3D platformer/collectathon that borrowed the best elements from the game it draws inspiration from.

While the first game was a 3D platformer through and through, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair opts to embrace the 2D platformer genre that is more in line with Retro Studios' critically acclaimed Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze; something that should make fans of the genre quite ecstatic for the game.

As Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair becomes available today for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC(Steam), Playtonic has released an exciting new gameplay trailer that shows off even more of that 2D platformer goodness that's been getting a lot of praise from critics.

Check it out:

Rescue Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion Guard and prepare to take on Capital B’s most dastardly challenge yet in this brand new platforming adventure hybrid!Yooka and Laylee must combine their abilities to take on a series of challenging and vibrant side-scrolling levels, as well as explore and solve puzzles in the beautiful overworld.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Steam today.
